Brooklyn Tour

Hop aboard a double-decker bus for CitySights NY’s Brooklyn Tour, a hop on/hop off journey through the city’s most populated borough. Many people who visit the city never set foot outside of Manhattan. But that would mean you’d miss some wonderful treasures so close by. And this newly expanded tour includes many wonders, allowing you to get off at any stop and grab a bite or see the sites in person. You’ll start in downtown Manhattan, crossing the Manhattan Bridge into Brooklyn, where you’ll see the first parkway for cars ever built in the U.S., the majesty of Grand Army Plaza, the Brooklyn Botanical Garden and Brooklyn Museum (a Beaux-Arts building with a vast art and Egyptian antiquities collection), along with the graceful mansions, intriguing shops and restaurants and a wide array of cultures. Your licensed guide will also take you past the gloriously designed Prospect Park with its zoo and the Brooklyn Public Library. And of course, you’ll see the spectacular Brooklyn Bridge.

Bronx Tour

Welcome to the Bronx! Once you hop on (and hop off) this uniquely narrated trip through Upper Manhattan and the Bronx, you’re in for a sightseeing excursion aboard a double-decker bus like no other. You’ll start in Harlem, where you’ll see the famed Harlem Market, where up to 100 vendors from a wide range of African countries sell their wares. Then it’s across 125th Street and over into the Bronx, the fourth-largest Manhattan borough in terms of land area. Here, you’ll see the Grand Concourse, the elegant boulevard that lured millions to make their homes nearby, including Edgar Allan Poe. Next, you’ll head west to the famed new Yankee Stadium, opened at the beginning of the 2009 baseball season. This state-of-the-art facility can be toured with a Yankee legend as an add-on CitySights tour, but even from the outside, it’s incredibly impressive. After all, it’s the home of the team that’s won 27 World Series championships. And you’ll end back in Harlem, for even more sites – and memories.

Museum of the City of New York

If you want to know how New York became New York, look no further than the top of Museum Mile. As the city’s official museum, the Museum of the City of New York celebrates the greatest city in the world through exhibitions and programs that reflect New York’s distinctive character, especially its heritage of diversity, opportunity, and perpetual transformation.

Founded in 1923, the City Museum presents ongoing and temporary exhibitions drawn from its collection of 750,000 objects, including prints, photographs, decorative arts, costumes, paintings, sculpture, toys, and theatrical memorabilia. Exhibitions on extended view include Activist New York, which presents the passions and conflicts that underlie the city’s history of protest, as well as Gilded New York, which showcases lavish costumes, jewelry, and decorative objects from New York’s original one percent—the city’s elite class of the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Every year, the City Museum presents five to ten temporary exhibitions that explore diverse topics that are unique to New York, such as graffiti art (City As Canvas, February – September, 2014), Superstorm Sandy (Rising Waters, October, 2013 – April, 2014), and New York apartment living in the 21st century (Making Room, January – September 2013.) Free guided gallery tours and family self-guides are available on site. Finally, no trip to the Big Apple is complete without Timescapes, a multimedia film on view at all times that tells the history of New York City—from its settlement by the Dutch to its present-day status as the capital of the world—in just 22 minutes.

The City Museum is located at 1220 Fifth Avenue at 103rd Street in Manhattan. The City Museum is open daily, from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Your CitySights Pass entitles you to entry to all of the Museum’s exhibitions.
